4. My opinion.. the real success of the GOP

since Nixon, has been to perfect dirty tricks. If they were honest with their free market, all business all the time agenda, working people (most of us) would reject them outright. So, they lie, cheat and steal and they have a willing and gullible base to suck it all up, while too many others give up and tune out..

18. I went to college in DC, 1965-67

Hung out with some Young Republicans. An introduction to the GOP and it's right wing, Young Americans for Freedom. They were all about dirty tricks and pulled more than a few stunts. I even saved a couple news clippings. They were dedicated, and raised money like crazy schmoozing little old ladies. They used to brag how they could get old people to write them checks by warning them against the commie hippies and "others." Their freedoms, and democracy itself was at stake and only the GOP could save America from the godless, commie hordes.

One became a Congressman from Illinois and was reelected for many terms until he was defeated in a primary a few years ago by someone even more right.. ain't karma a bitch..
