(17,023 posts)The one thing that makes me think it might be is there haven't been any leaked info recently. So maybe those leaking info are aware of the grand jury investigation and are waiting to see what comes of it?

(2,072 posts)I've been following him on Twitter for a little while now along with Louise Mensch and the lot (although I do follow-unfollow with Mensch depending on non Trump/Russia related tweet-storms).
I'm kinda on the fence regarding the whole insider personalities especially as it relates to specific investigation timelines or internal pivotal moments that can't be confirmed. The details provide hope which is of some benefit, but not a lot of utility even if it turns out later to be 100% accurate. That said all the information that they do provide that points out possible connections with Trump et. al are useful and should be their primary focus.

I can only imagine the ethical convenience you may find in believing only "important people..." Faith in the power brokers is a rather quaint and very nice sentiment.

(51,129 posts)indictments. That's how the system works. If you understand how the system works, no reason to get hopes up beforehand.
Or, do you think Comey was just pulling a practical joke on Congress?

(13,583 posts)But grand juries don't always indict.

(9,526 posts)As a former prosecutor of white collar crimes, he knows what he is talking about and assures us House Intel at least is on track now but they are WAY short staffed for an investigation of this magnitude. I still wonder if enough people called congress, like with the ACA vote, if enough pressure could change that. I read somewhere that the Senate has added two more staffers due to pressure.

Add Trump's lawyer to the list of #TrumpRussia liars:http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-lawyer-michael-cohen-russia-ukraine-peace-plan-2017-2
The plan which The Times said was pushed by Cohen, businessman Felix Sater, and Ukrainian lawmaker Andrii Artemenko involved lifting sanctions on Russia in return for Moscow withdrawing its support for pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine, according to the report. It would also allow Russia to maintain control over Crimea, which it annexed in 2014.
Hours after the Times story was published, however, Cohen told The Washington Post that he hadn't delivered the peace plan to Flynn nor discussed it with anyone in the White House.
In an interview with The Post, Cohen corroborated The Times' reporting that he had met with Sater and Artemenko ....

(8,801 posts)The revelation comes from Washington insider Claude Taylor, who served in the the Bill Clinton administration. He says that according to his inside source, two grand juries are in progress in the Trump-Russia scandal, with one of them almost complete (link). So what now? Its not clear who has initially been targeted, though theyre likely to be proverbial smaller sized fish who can be persuaded to provide damning evidence and testimony against a bigger fish in return for leniency. The end goal of the investigation is ostensibly to get to Donald Trump himself, being the biggest fish in the scandal.
Trumps former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn failed to register as a foreign agent at the time he was taking payments from intermediaries of the governments of Russia and Turkey. Trumps former campaign manager is Paul Manafort is accused of having taken tens of millions of dollars from a pro-Kremlin benefactor in similar fashion. Trumps former campaign adviser Roger Stone has admitted to contact with the Russian hacker who stole emails from Trumps election opposition. Carter Page is alleged in a number of Russia-related incidents.
So take your pick as to whom the targets of these two initial Trump-Russia grand juries might be. But with one of them near completion, and indictments more or less automatic, we should begin finding out soon. Will the FBI have the two indicted individuals arrested in a public spectacle in order to pressure them to flip more quickly?

I'm getting pushback because it's not on NY Times website or CNN. How long did they sit on now verified Steele Dossier?
L. Coyote
(51,129 posts)How much push back did we get on DU for mentioning the FISA warrant? Besides hackers shutting down the domain, I mean.
FBI has FISA warrant for Trump secret server connected to Russia.
And how much push back at every hint that Republicans might be connected to the hackers? Claude is getting trolled just like we do here.
We need to respect the brave journalists, not criticize them.

(51,129 posts)There may be some coordination between FBI and NYS re announcing indictments and who files first.
... in 2010. Back then, Schneiderman was running for attorney general of New York, and Trump was still in his pre-birther, reality TV host phase. Trump had donated money to one of Schneidermans opponents in the Democratic primary. Schneiderman managed to pull off a come-from-behind victory, and after the race, he went to Trump Tower to ask for a donation for the general election. Trump coughed up $12,500 to the Democrat, and Schneiderman went on to beat his Republican opponent and win.
But Trump and Schneiderman did not become best friends. That meeting was the beginning of a long and increasingly bitter saga between the two. Schneiderman took up the states existing case against Trump UniversityNew York wanted the school to drop the university from its name, since it was not chartered as an institution of higher learning and lacked a license to offer instructionand as he pursued it over the next five years, he became the target of a relentless series of personal attacks from the Trump camp. Trump filed an ethics complaint alleging that Schneiderman offered to drop the suit in exchange for donations; he went on television to denounce Schneiderman as a hack and a lightweight, and said he was wasting millions of taxpayer dollars when he should have been going after Wall Street. (Never mind that Schneiderman had already been declared the man the banks fear most ....

(51,129 posts)While the issue of Trumps ties to Russia are a federal matter that is behind handled by the FBI, the state of New York is concerned with Trumps possible ties to organized crime which could involve RICO charges and are indirectly related to the ongoing scandal involving Trump and Russia.
On Thursday, Twitter user SheWhoVotes, who is also a constitutional lawyer, tweeted that her sources had informed her that Schneiderman was working with members of the intelligence community to take out the entire three ring circus.

DCATs Scott Dworkin was blunt today on AM Joy: Michael Flynn should be in jail - and a paper trail will lead back to Pence and Trump. Tell Congress here [http://bit.ly/2mpmgDT] to demand a full, independent #TrumpRussia investigation with a special prosecutor and an independent non-partisan 9/11-style commission.
