Bill Maher: Liberals Need to Stop Trying to Win Over Trump Voters With Facts

During tonight’s New Rule segment on Real Time, host Bill Maher took aim at liberals once again. But in this instance, rather than chastising them for hindering free speech on college campuses or getting too worked up over “b*llshit issues,” he wanted to tell them to stop trying to convince Trump voters to abandon the president by using facts.

Why? Because those who voted for Donald Trump don’t care about any of them.

“Liberals need to stop trying to win over Trump voters with facts,” he stated. “You’re wasting your breath and you’re going to need it because the air’s not getting any better.”

Maher is correct. Trump supporters don't care. He ran the most divisive campaign in modern times, he insulted every voting block, other than the white working class folks who flocked to him. The man is an intellectual mediocrity, supremely ignorant and ill informed. He's a textbook narcissist, petty, vindictive and with a mean streak. None of this mattered to his supporters.

The mistake is to group these people as one. His supporters comprise several categories. A) The white working class that felt disenfranchised. B) The people with Libertarian tendencies who believe that government should be reduced and that it's inherently evil. C) The wealthy who saw Trump as someone who will lower their taxes and help to fill their coffers even more by rolling back regulations. D) The ones called "deplorable" by Hillary. The racists, xenophobes, homophobes, misogynists, etc. The bottom of the human barrel.

This coalition enabled and elevated the least qualified and most unfit person to ever be the nominee of a major political party to the presidency.

1. Bill said they want to stay in the past (1950's) but not meaning age.

Instead it is the frame of mind when white men had a great life. Noe they feel entitled. I might add that his base doesn't care about facts, flip flopping, or even what he accomplishes. I believe they are innately aggressive, mean bullies and are attracted to this aspect of his personality.

2. They are too dumb to realize that they voted against their best interests.

Unless they are wealthy, Trump is going to screw them over too.

3. I don't think you can easily separate Trump voters into groups like that

I think there's a lot of overlap and the polling numbers show many of his supporters, who would also be working-class, hold xenophobic views of Muslims and Mexicans.
