Midwest, South on alert after killer storms roar from Texas to Missouri

Tornadoes and wild storms roared into the South on Sunday, hours after twisters, heavy storms and flooding left a trail of death and destruction from Missouri to Texas.

At least four people were killed and 49 injured Saturday after tornadoes and wild storms swept through Van Zandt County, about 50 miles east of Dallas, Canton Mayor Lou Ann Everett said Sunday. She said crews were still working to assess the situation and the death toll could rise.

"The damage was extensive in affected areas," Everett said. "I have just driven through some of it, and it is heartbreaking."

The weather has changed from beautiful spring day to ominous grey clouds moving in on us. We live just north of Nashville and usually have a family gathering/dinner on Sunday night but if this keeps up, we may pass tonight. The humidity from yesterday is gone and the wind is blowing stronger and the temp is dropping...would rather stay here at our house that has a built in tornado room than venture down to Nashville tonight!

And yesterday was one of the hottest days this year so far in San Diego. Not a good sign on this upcoming week for people living in Tornado Alley. I hope everyone is prepared and safe...
