Releases Campaign Ad, Running Against News Media

... Trump's re-election campaign on Monday released a 30-second campaign-style television ad, calling Trump's first 100 days a massive victory that the "fake news" just isn't telling you about. "America has rarely seen such success," says the ad's narrator, citing the confirmation of Justice Neil M. Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, cutting regulations, and producing (promising, to be exact, since no plan has been released) the biggest tax cut plan in history."
The New York Times reports Trump's campaign arm will spend $1.5 million to air the spot, describing the ad buy as "a relatively small sum that does not indicate a major national public relations campaign." That amount, however, does not include the value of free media the spot will likely attract from the very "fake news" cable channels the ad both attacks--and uses to fact-check its own claims.
The ad has all the trappings of a campaign ad in a bruising political campaign, but the target isn't a political opponent, it's journalists.
The ad shows unflattering photos of NBC's Andrea Mitchell, CNN's Wolf Blitzer, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, ABC's George Stephanopoulos and CBS' Scott Pelley, all of whom appear with bright red letters across their faces reading: FAKE NEWS ...
