A republican and a democrat go to a car dealership.

They both look at the same brand new car. The dealership tells them the brand new car comes with NO maintenance. If there are any problems they will not be fixed. They are told the tires will not be installed.

The republican gets in the car, starts it up and says. " This brand new car is a complete disaster". "Get rid of it".

The democrat gets in the car, starts it up and says. " It works". "I'll take it".

This is the story of the american people and Obamacare. Obamacare has never been fully installed. It's been in place for 7 years and none of it's problems have been addressed. How can it be judged? The sad part is we will never know if Obamacare will work or not. We have never fully tried it. We never will.

Congress committed malpractice and the american went along for the ride like a bunch of idiots. We all may pay for our stupidity.

Individual states' choice of Medicaid expansion opting-out, and the lack of a gov't option notwithstanding. Single payer was not installed however, although Obamacare was positioned to be a first step. The GOP's motivations for declaring Obamacare a "disaster" were not based on any careful scrutiny a-la savvy new car buyer, but on political calculation: tie ACA to Obama directly, so if you don't care for the guy for whatever reason you will oppose ACA as a matter of course. Then use the negative baggage down ticket against political opponents. And yes, pretend to have a much better plan in hand. Vote to repeal dozens of times with no alternative legislation. Some good optics for the "base" but an empty suit nevertheless.

I know of many including family members who have benefited from ACA and in no small measure. Ironically, there are many Trump supporters who have been helped as well, but aren't cognizant of it since they never signed on to anything bearing an "Obamacare" label. Once taken away, they will realize that they had something of benefit. But short of that their ideology will not permit it.

And then proceed to trash it with their own shitty aftermarket modifications. Then when the car didn't work after that, they'd try to return it to the dealership and blame it on the guy who sold them the shitty aftermarket parts.
