This gave me hope after reading how upset many were in the FBI tonight.

(19,204 posts)there has never been a Republican administration this crooked before, and it could have far reaching effects for the Republican party.
If Republicans value their cushy jobs, they'd better step up and put country before party, or there WILL BE NO MORE PARTY! The GOP will be through for decades to come. Nothing this sleazy, crooked and treasonous has ever happened before. This makes Watergate look like a Girl Scout cookie sale, both with the shear number of people involved, and the treasonous charges which could be brought against them.
We should petition Congress to bring back public hangings. Seeing this lot swinging from the gallows would be an indelible image for anyone considering fucking with the Constitution in the future.

(9,850 posts)goppers to put party before country or their own security. Do you think they are doing this gig in service for the country? They are always in it to enrich themselves. There is only one (major) party that believes in and understands public service.

(19,569 posts)On both counts. Literally daily I lament our losses, but I try to use them to ignite my personal fire of resolve to fight back and change this nightmare back to something decent.
I know that probably sounds cheesy to a lot of folks, but it literally gets me up and back out fighting everyday.

(10,252 posts)The classical Greek characteristics of virtue were wisdom, moderation, courage, and justice. I think about that a lot. Our greatest danger is that we ourselves fall into despair and indifference. That's where courage and moderation come in. We must stay calm, centered, and focused on winning elections. That ultimately is how we can bring justice to this foul predicament. I think there are still some Republican senators, who if nothing else, realize that protecting Trump is not in their self interest. If we can take the house, there will be a bill of impeachment.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)
The California Legislature has extended its contract with former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's law firm through the end of May.
The Legislature is paying Holder's firm Covington & Burling $25,000 per month out of the Assembly and Senate's operating budgets.
Legislative leaders are extending the contract because Holder's firm has been working on several projects that they want to see through, Kevin Liao, a spokesman for Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, said Tuesday. The speaker has found legal advice from the firm to be worthwhile, Liao said, adding that lawmakers will reevaluate whether to extend the contract further at the end of the month.
The firm will be working on an amicus brief in support of Santa Clara County's lawsuit against President Donald Trump's executive order targeting funding for communities that do not cooperate with U.S. immigration officials, Liao said.
In April, a federal judge blocked the order - which attempted to withhold funding from such communities - while the lawsuit by Santa Clara County and another by the city of San Francisco work their way through court.

How far can the FBI go? Impeachment is still in the hands of a republican administration that will throw every Hail Mary pass in its repertoire to thwart this investigation...

(4,522 posts)"Duty, Honor, Country" those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn.
