What matters is that Dir. Jim Comey said he was uneasy with that invitation to the White House and why.

Trump has claimed that it was a requested meeting, which it seems, most certainly was NOT.

Clapper said that it was HIS characterization of what he thought of Comey. Comey did not say he was uneasy. Big difference, and yes it DOES matter whether it was before or after the meeting.

he did not say anything about his "characterizations", he simply stated that Director Comey was uneasy about meeting with Trump at that scheduled dinner.

Why do you think it matters when they spoke?

8. I listened to This Week which is linked in the OP

In it Clapper said it was "my characterization" of Comey before the dinner. Of course it makes a difference whether conversation took place before or after the dinner. If it was afterwards it would carry far more weight since whatever went on between Comey and Trump would have taken place.
