WP - Political chaos in Washington is a return on investment for Moscow

Put another way, could Trump do anything more besides what he has done to destabalize the U.S.? He has admitted to firing Comey to bring the Russian investigation to an end. The only thing he could do is something that causes even Republicans to impeach him, but that might actually lead to slightly more stability.

Russia has yet to collect much of what it hoped for from the Trump administration, including the lifting of U.S. sanctions and recognition of its annexation of Crimea.

But the Kremlin has collected a different return on its effort to help elect Trump in last year’s election: chaos in Washington.

The president’s decision to fire FBI Director James B. Comey last week was the latest destabilizing jolt to a core institution of the U.S. government. The nation’s top law enforcement agency joined a list of entities that Trump has targeted, including federal judges, U.S. spy services, news organizations and military alliances.

The instability, although driven by Trump, has in some ways extended and amplified the effect Russia sought to achieve with its unprecedented campaign to undermine the 2016 presidential race.

If the rumors are true and there is an indictment out for Trump and his minions, once they are served the government will be in total disarray for quite sometime. There won't be anyone at the helm steering the ship. I know the president can't be arrested but this guy certainly isn't going to focus on running the country when his ego is threatened.

If Putin anticipates this, how might he take advantage of the situation while the US is spinning around rudderless?

It would be the perfect time to jump in and try to take control.
I don't know how specifically he would do it but whatever he does it won't be good for those of us who live here.

The danger may not be over once Trump's administration is taken to trial.

Of all the Generals available in Trump world some must still be loyal to the Constitution. Replacing all the traitors will look like a military coup with the assistance of the judiciary. I figure the coup starts for real at an act of desperation from Trump. Chaos pure stupid chaos.
