If/when Trump goes down...will the media/punditry *really* let the GOP escape unscathed...?

...say for the sake of argument that at the right moment, the GOP "establishment", insomuch as there is one, helps plant the knife in Trump's back. Mike Pence becomes President. Hallelujah, the Republic is saved, we've had our Revolution of 1688 moment. The media demands that we all get on board and congratulate ourselves on the return of "normalcy". Pence, Ryan, Turtleman...their involvement is swept under the rug, and the "stridency" of some Dems to investigate it will be frowned upon by every patriotic, right-thinking American. Could this possible really happen? Is this too cynical, even for the media? This would be a worse result, as far as I'm concerned, than the Madman staying in office...

You still think this is a Democrat/Republican game. It isn't. It's an Establishment/Counter Deep State game.

The media will start running profiles in courage on Republicans 30 seconds after he's out the door assuming it happens because they're needed by the Establishment. Now, 'lesser' (read: non-Establishment) authors will definitely continue to excoriate them...for a while. Then a 'surprise' will show up that 'proves' the R's were on 'the side of history' all along to silence them.

If Trump goes down, they most likely will go down as well.
