Melissa Bean, the democratic incumbent, with 48.3% of the votes to Walsh's 48.5%. The deciding factor? A green party candidate received over 6,000 votes, or 3.2%. Those votes would have gone to Bean had he not been running.

Even without a strong candidate like Tammy Duckworth, Walsh would be toast.

of pundits recently have claimed it's a toss-up now or even tilting slightly for Walsh

So Duckworth can't afford to sit on her hands
