A Hillary presidency--
with a 5-4 liberal leaning Supreme Court
all the various progressive initiatives President Clinton would be supporting
the AHC NOT under threat, along with Medicaid and Medicare
a cabinet not made up of troglodytes and stooges.
And not only that:
O'Reilly fired
Limbaugh's ratings in free fall
the economy (up until Trump anyway) still in recovery
a victory over the far right in France
a court ruling against North Carolina's voter suppression act, with hopefully more to follow
AND Trump and the GOP under investigation for selling out their country to a foreign power....
I for one would be doing a happy dance every day.
Instead, we have the endless charade of the orange simian poseur.
Just a few votes in Michigan, Wisconsin.... and what an enormous difference in the state of the nation and the planet.
I'm hoping this forever nails shut the coffin of the "both parties are the same" BS.

(30,674 posts)if we don't keep fighting, whoever the president is. I'm sure if we were in Hillary World right now, the media would be full of fake news about Benghazi. And Trump would still be tweeting--paid by the Russians.

IOW, not a snowballs chance.

(59,503 posts)but the first several things listed are pretty unquestionable. Her cabinet would be mostly Democrats with a moderate Republican or two placed in agencies where they agree with President Clinton. Even though there was talk that the Republicans would continue to block Supreme Court Justices, with a Clinton victory, we might have won the two more Senators needed to get to 50 - with Kaine breaking a tie. I suspect that Clinton would have either renominated Garland or picked someone a lot like him leading to the 60 votes needed without the nuclear option. Obviously, anything that would harm Medicare, Medicaid or ACA would have been vetoed.
Where history might have changed is one point:
Limbaugh's ratings in free fall
Where O'Reilly and Ailes deserved being kicked out, a Clinton presidency would have caused the far right to circle around their "leaders". Right now, Limbaugh would be having 3 hour rants on the perfidy of the Clintons and everyone around her. I know they already have books and books of complaints, but they would add to those. Limbaugh is helped when the Democrats are in power.
I also would guarantee that not all of DU would be doing happy dances every day. Remember, though we would have known it would have been bad, we would not have experienced the last 100 plus days. In fact, we might be saying that it was good he was the nominee, because he was so unacceptable that he cost the Republicans a chance at winning - given that the results were close.
I agree that the 2 parties are not the same. You have to be very far on either extreme to think so in today's polarized country.
