Here is an example of ignorant voters in Ohio

What would it take for Vinton County Trump backers to stop supporting him? Nuclear war, perhaps:

McARTHUR, Ohio--President Donald Trump is under increasing fire following his dismissal of FBI Director James Comey and his disclosure of top-secret Israeli intelligence to Russian officials.

But in rural Vinton County, many Trump voters say it would take a lot more than that - blatant corruption, nuclear war, or even their own deaths - for them to stop supporting the president.

In Ohio's least populous and nearly poorest county, Trump supporters aren't fazed by Trump firing Comey after Trump told Comey he hoped the director would shut down an investigation into his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. They think Democrats and the media are overplaying reports that Trump disclosed top-secret intelligence from Israel to Russian officials.

They feel Republicans and Democrats alike aren't giving the president much of a chance to do his job.

"That's just people trying to get Trump in trouble and get him out of office [to] put somebody else that's going to bend over and kiss the government's rear end even more," said Austin Williams, a 21-year-old Trump voter from McArthur. "I just think, let the man stay in office and do his job, and next time the elections are, when it comes to voting, vote for somebody else if you don't like Trump's way."

Williams, who works as a mystery shopper for Goodwill Industries, said he doubts Trump shared classified information with the Russians (though Trump himself has admitted it). Told that the intelligence was about a threat from the Islamic State, Williams said, "that's just old news."

46. To change this pattern we must find a way to stop the propaganda when we get power next time!

We can start by attacking the media that is doing this disservice to these people who are un-educated or refuse to independently check what they hear. We must save them from their own ignorance and stupidity! We must fight for the FCC to require truth in the news like we used to have to a much greater degree.

Even much of the Northeastern suburbs are homogeneous and quite right-wing.

Years of tax-cuttin' guvs and a 20-year streak of Republican state legislature control has destroyed the educational system here and it shows.

Everyone has a right to vote for who they want, even if we feel it's wrong, I have lifelong friends that voted for 45 and can't see why "People just don't get over it, he won, get over it".

I don't argue with them, I don't talk about politics with them, they have a right to their opinions same as me, I just hope they see the truth someday.

And this man interviewed for the article, he has a job, he's not sitting at home bitching about how the democrats have ruined the world, he's actually trying to improve his.

I'm physically disabled due to beating the crap out of my body pushing crab pots for a decade, I know how it feels to start at the bottom of the food chain, this man has pride and should not be looked down at because he's not you or me or we don't agree with him.

64. Well I guess it good I didn't vote for 45 then.

It's just my opinion, and I can have whatever one I want correct?.

I just don't think that treating these people like crap or talking down to them will get us anywhere, because that just completes the circle and nothing is solved, nothing.

It seems calm reasoned debate of the issues or problems we see isn't an option anymore, and here I thought that this place above all would be hoping to return to that.

I guess I was wrong, good luck with all the attitude, you'll need it.

And I've always thought that to hate someone you have to know them first, I don't hate 45 but I do think he's given enough reason for us to, I just think there's enough hate in the world already.

There are a few people in the news lately I'd really like to punch square in the nose as hard as I can, but it won't solve anything, no names of course but you know who I mean.

But I see that pointing fingers at each other and being unable to agree on anything will never lead to what should be the way get along.

I thought faux news was the one inciting hate and distrust of each other, they made political difference into hate, distrust, violence and a huge void between us by telling their viewers to act and feel that way about someone with beliefs not the party line they excrete.

But I guess they aren't alone.

He is appropriately dressed for a mystery shopper job at goodwill
The comments attributed to him are no different or limited than the typical trump voter and he expressed a thought clearer than trump sometimes does

"That's just people trying to get Trump in trouble and get him out of office put somebody else that's going to bend over and kiss the government's rear end even more," said Austin Williams, a 21-year-old Trump voter from McArthur. i would just like to suggest liberals who blame fox give some blame to talk radio too, which dominates messaging in 40 states with 80 senators and unlike fox, is more capable of undetected unchallenged lying, racism, and hate and is coordinated locally and to the state level.

at a cheap $1000/hr x 15hrs/day x 5 = $75,000/wk x 1200 stations rw talk radio is worth $18MIL/day or 390MIL$ /month or 4.68 BIL$/ year FREE for coordinated global warming denial, pro republican free market deregulation and wall st think tank propaganda, swiftboating, and the hate and fear used to get people to vote republican.

where limbaugh and sons make excuses for trump all day, reaching 50mil a week.

the local saturday morning guy is attacking the media in defense of trump. he is really an ignorant fool who in no way reflects the intelligence level or sentiment of the avg citizen within the range of the monster limbaugh station he's on. he's there because he reinforces limbaugh and the other national liars on 1200 stations around the country and democrats and liberals have completely ignored that propaganda operation.

my state is one of the lucky states where there are 2!!! liberal talk stations - but their signals are small compared to the one mentioned above, which reaches 5 states and more at night and is associated with/endorsed by the state's major university sports program. colorado finally got one liberal station after many years without, they went blue and legalized pot, and then the liberal station was shut down.

and my low power liberal station here has a national weekend show is doing a program on immigration that completely ignores what rw radio has been doing by design and strongly for at least since bush rove took the white house - vilifying mexican immigrants to help the GOP sell voter suppression legislation, walls, and more prisons.

21. No Internet, but Everyone has Dish Network and FOX Nuze here!

I live in this general area. Outside of the small towns, no one has internet service other than dial up. But literally everyone has satellite TV, and even the least expensive package includes FOX Nuze. We get at most one or two over the air tv stations, so Dish or Direct TV is it. We do get AM stations out of Columbus which are all Rush Limpballs stations.

Another thing is that the economic "recovery" never actually reached these areas, much like the nearby rust belt region. Mining and the small manufacturing that used to be in the area are gone. Very poor and very expensive health care here. Heroin and meth are a big problem. The area is about 95% white too.

I do not talk politics with very many here. It used to be about 50/50 but has changed to probably 70/30 repub in the last decade. Brainwashing propaganda works. Everything was Killary was going to take out gunz and kill the babies. Trump was a good (white?) business man that was going to get us jobs. GOTV calls this past election were not very fun.

I'm going to go sit on the front porch and learn the banjo....

Regardless of how bad their sports team is doing, hard core will continue to support their team. They may grumble and argue about individual team players...but they will never drop their team. Until the public sees this as American's team...versus Russia's team...I don't see their stance changing.

51. Not true. I did a research paper on this in the 90s. Removal from their control elements is needed.

.

Most people who are subject to "brainwashing" return to normalcy when they are removed from the agents that are controlling them. For Republicans, this could be their peer groups, church, family or information sources. I lean on their information sources first, since they are the primary drivers of slowly creeping political attitude changes.

People do not swiftly change their political views very often. It is more a slowly advancing position, which allows them to hold beliefs that they legitimize. Without legitimacy, all of it crumbles. The problem is, how does one delegitimize the effects of RW propaganda, especially where there isn't a counterweight present? The old concern of MSNBC being on higher tier cable offerings poses a problem. However, now that MSNBC is swinging to the right, that might be a moot point in a few years. Without left-leaning media, that is on basic subscription tiers, it is a hopeless effort.

If there were offerings, it might be successful to concentrate on suburban metropolitan centers of each state first, then slowly expand outward to the more rural areas of the country.

.

There exists no way to "remove them from their control elements," in Research Paper jargon.

31. Don't worry. Same said for Nixon in 1974.

https://psmag.com/news/trumps-supporters-still-support-trump-so-what

It's worth reading the linked NYT article from 1974 too.

In June of 1974, with the Watergate scandal exploding and President Richard Nixon’s approval ratings in the high 20s, the New York Timesran an article that interviewed rural, conservative whites in Holdrege, Nebraska, about their feelings toward the president. These respondents were fierce supporters of Nixon and did not like the way the political system was treating him. The quotes may sound familiar today:

“I CAN’T BELIEVE THERE’S ONE DIRTY THING WRONG WITH RICHARD NIXON…. SOME PEOPLE DID SOME AWFUL WRONG THINGS AT WATERGATE, BUT YOU’LL NEVER CONVINCE ME THAT NIXON KNEW OF THEM. NOW YOU TALK ABOUT DISHONESTY. WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE VOTES THE DEMOCRATS ALWAYS STEAL IN CHICAGO?”
“I’M JUST NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT IS WRONG UNTIL HE’S CONVICTED. I DON’T HAVE THAT MUCH FAITH IN THE NEWS MEDIA ANY MORE.”
“YOU CAN SEE THE GLEAM IN THOSE TV REPORTERS’ EYES WHEN THEY HAVE BAD NEWS.”
“I CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY SOME PEOPLE SUDDENLY EXPECT POLITICS TO BE CONDUCTED IN A CHURCH-LIKE ATMOSPHERE. IT NEVER HAS BEEN BEFORE.”
“THOSE EASTERN LIBERALS, TRY TO MAKE THEIR POLITICAL BELIEFS SEEM SO SOPHISTICATED JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE LIBERAL, BUT THEY BLAST AND NIT‐PICK SO MUCH IT SOUNDS LIKE PROPAGANDA NOW.”

54. Yes, it's a type of stupidity that seems to afflict certain groups in every generation. If Ryan cuts

their Medicare and Medicaid and food stamps and so on they will probably start to notice but even then they might not blame Trump. Honestly these people (like the Nixon-lovers) are not going to be swayed by rational arguments. They want a cult leader who gives them the feelz and gives them sad, meaningless ways and verbal vomit slogans ("lock her up" to feel like their lives are better than they really are -- of course Trump won't do shit for them.

Trump allows them to fantasize about what being a "tough billionaire" would be like -- they watch the Apprentice and don't understand the difference between the carefully crafted image for television and the reality of the absolutely pathetic traitor, the little cowardly man, who has lived a life without consequences and of no consequence until he decided to rape the country and the office of the presidency in the Oval Office. This man will without question be rated as the most hated and worst prez in US history. They can hold on to their fantasies then if they still find them comforting.

39. You visit various locations of the store chain with a check list of items to rate the store

Are the bathrooms clean?the items placed as corporation asks? The store clerks show courtesy
did they have a name tag on !wearing the company shirt. What was the name on the tag or if no tag describe the person who did not have the tag or did not show courtesy , did they say what ever tag line they are suppose to say to customers when ending a sale etc.
The store thinks you are an everyday shopper and you cannot reveal you are amystery shopper no matter how bad you have been treated or how poor service you see.
then you enter all your answers into a computer program the company provides at home or at a site and these undercover ops are used by the company to make sure all stores meet comform to the corp standard , and of course for ratings and appraisals
I should be able to walk into any goodwill and expect to find a similiar store to what is expected based on my past experience at another one, give or take a little I think you get the idea

Basically there to judge low-level employees and get them written up if they don't follow company protocol 100% on the transaction.

34. Trump voters are Silly Putty and Trump is the Sunday morning comic section

They bear his image but in a highly inarticulate way. They are substance without intellect. They are malleable and can bounce from place to place without clarity. And they can be re-formed at will by their handlers.

36. Democracy is frustrating...that your vote is considered equal to the vote of such a low end moron...

(not really democracy - a republic...I know....and the votes are not exactly equal due to electoral college - I know).

of his rabid, racist, bigoted hardcore(many millions) base. Not surprising.

Yet any country that can start out by perpetrating genocide against the Native-americans, burning witches and having slavery of Africans as one of it's institutions and encouraging(fox snooze, rw radio et al.) it's continuing hate, it can be, NOT SURPRISING.

This is NOT how the majority of Trump supporters see themselves. It's embarrassing to them.

49. In the land of denial

This is the guy who gets blamed for Trump's win (as the words "least populated" gets swept under the rug) while no explanation is offered for why a substantial majority of upper middle class white women (singled out because upper middle class white men are a lost cause), the largest single voting demographic, rejected what we were selling.

55. "kiss the government's ass"

That is the dualistic mindset that always needs an enemy bogeyman to explain why their lives don't work. We are the gov. This is a democracy, or at least it's supposed to be. It is we the people, of the people, by the people, for the people. But it is next to impossible to breakthru' to these numbskulls, because they always need an enemy.

57. Austin Williams

"That's just people trying to get Trump in trouble and get him out of office put somebody else that's going to bend over and kiss the government's rear end even more," said Austin Williams, a 21-year-old Trump voter from McArthur. "I just think, let the man stay in office and do his job, and next time the elections are, when it comes to voting, vote for somebody else if you don't like Trump's way."

First, and foremost, Williams, he (the sexual predator) put himself into this "trouble" that you call it, I didn't ask him to, and neither did the 65 million voters that voted against him.

And as a reminder, if your local newspaper or tv news never reported this, lets take you back to what you voted for along with the 62 million just like yourself, you own him and he owns you
