Trump should be scared, Comey friend says

Benjamin Wittes, a friend of ousted FBI Director James Comey, told CNN that if he were President Trump he would be scared of Comey’s pending testimony before the Senate.

Said Wittes: “I found it interesting and very telling that he declined any opportunity to tell his story in private. This is a guy with a story to tell.”

He added: “I have no doubt that he regarded the group of people around the President as dishonorable.”

You don't settle if you think you can win.

But cash settlement is not a "not guilty" verdict. It means the defendant is hedging their bets because the case is not open/shut in their favor.

insight than a member of the general public. His silence would mean nothing (I would expect a FBI agent - even a former one - to keep silent about an ongoing investigation). If Comey did speak, then that indicts his character.

Brennan didn't give away any investigation details but he sure let it be known that there were questions that needed answering of the connections between the Russians and the trump campaign.

And Comey, being in charge of the investigation, is privy to much more than Brennan.

He was on doing an interview of why Comey would take such detailed notes and he made the point that Comey, just like all US Attorney's are taught to make it a point to never be the only witness to a conversation with a subject, or a witness, etc. If you can't avoid it, than as soon as you can, document everything as thoroughly and as objective as you can. This documentation becomes part of the case file for other agents/US Attorney's to use. It was said that Comey distributed his notes of his encounters with Trump to upper associates within the department just in case. Witt did not mention that he may have been the recipients of any of those memos that Comey wrote and distributed for safekeeping, but he thoroughly vouched for Comey's character based on their long term friendship and as a colleague, and was not surprised that Comey kept detailed notes.

Emotions alone can tell a story: "what do you think of trump?" Eyes wide open iwith shock and dismay., a shake of the head..."I can't believe how far this country has fallen" is there any hope? A vigorous nod of the head, a look of confidence.
And years of reading the signs under other circumstances, and a level of trust.

I wanna see Trump go down but Pence would be more circumspect and so we wouldn't get 2 examples of outrageous Republican behavior by our Commander-in-Chief every day.

Reporters wouldn't be able to stick mics in every GOP politician face every time they showed their face in public asking if they approved of this type behavior. Even their refusing to comment makes a statement and a great campaign ad.

Trump is bad for the country but great for entertainment and damaging the GOP.

....Trump keeps divulging secrets to foreign heads of government. Including highly dangerous ones, like the one where he tells Duterte that we have nuclear subs now stationed off the Korean coast. Good God, that's terrifying.

I know this is playing arm chair psychologist but I think having hot news and inside information makes him feel tough and important and he just compulsively grabs what's at hand that makes him feel that way and that rescues him from the mockery of the world and the investigations.

Combine that with his ignorance and it's lethal.

If Comey is harmed that will be BY FAR the biggest crisis in American history.

Bigger than Pearl Harbor. Bigger than the Civil War. Bigger than Washington falling during the war of 1812. Bigger than the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bigger even than any Presidential assassination, as major and tragic as they were, because killing Comey means that a foreign power and their domestic allies are STAGING A COUP TO TURN AMERICA INTO A DICTATORSHIP.

It is hard to overstate that last.

I think Trump may be Caligula. I am pretty sure Trump does not know who Caligula was. If he knew anything about history he would not have fired Comey.

Sometimes insanity and stupidity and vanity can be scary combination. And Scary has his stubby finger on the red button.
