He said that the GOP was loosing it's tack and withering away! He said this on his morning show today! It has been this way for several years, they just had a hold on the government and been tack-less since the beginning of time!

(31,261 posts)Trump was elected by an aroused ban of idiots, many of whom are in their very last years of life. Our party has a lot more young people. Our challenge is to articulate policy proposals and field candidates that get our type of people excited enough to go to the polls, this election proved that just running against a bad person isn't enough to motivate almost half the country to vote.
PS, a dying star takes billions of years to fully die, but I think the analogy is still apt when compared to where republicans will be within the next decade.

(14,040 posts)Mostly because he's not batshit crazy... that's the dividing line for me, so it doesn't matter to me when he opened his eyes, just that his eyes are open. If I recall he was pretty critical of Palin too (after a time).

(31,261 posts)In my state of Florida, the Orlando and Tampa area were good to republicans a decade ago. Now, a republican has to run like a democrat to even have a chance in that region. South Florida is becoming solid Democrat as older republican voting Cubans die off and younger, American born Cuban-Americans replace them. My county, which used to be deep blood red, is now almost purple, heading toward blue. Gainesville and Leon County where Tallahassee sits are deep blue. Jacksonville, which used to be a republican bastion is blue. When I think of the Republican Party, I think of the movie phrase that goes "I'm already dead, I just don't know it". Any party that has to prevent legitimate Americans from voting doesn't have a long life, we just need to become smarter at fighting their behavior.
