It is miserably hot here in Indianapolis...still 90 degrees at 2 am. Any breeze feels like a blast from an open furnace.
Check on the elderly and ill, or anyone else who may be alone. Make sure they are ok. Offer to run to the grocery for them. Deliver a pitcher of homemade ice tea or lemonade.
If you are running your AC, invite them over. Many folks won't turn down their own thermostat, because they can't afford the extra utility cost. Maybe invite them to stay for supper, while you're at it.
In other words...be excellent to one another.
Have a good weekend and stay well

(3,173 posts)I love the rumble in the clouds when the sky darkens and the wind picks up. A good hard rain usually cools things off. We've had a few thunderstorms already, but there's always room for one more.

Used it a lot in my hot office when I was working, and now here at home in our heat wave.

(4,475 posts)Heat index of 101 forecasted for Pittsburgh today. We've had an entire week of temperatures in the upper 90s, with greater than 60% humidity. It's been horrible.

(10,168 posts)at least for the time being. High today is only 81, not 90's and 100's (just South of Green Bay). We're going to have at least 5 days of 80's, so a welcome break. My tomato plants look like they were put through a blast furnace, and I watered them.

(26,355 posts)Now the Front Range here in Colorado is getting typical "monsoon" summer thunderstorms. Now the High Park burn area where 250+ homes burned just a couple weeks ago is now getting hit with flash floods.

(12,461 posts)yesterday we had a downpour and intense thunderboomers. Temperature dropped dramatically. Cooler this morning, lower 70's. Hopefully relief is on the way.

(39,909 posts)After 2 months of record breaking HEAT and No Rain (Severe Drought),
we are getting some relief. T-Storms moved in last night, and rain and mild temps predicted for the next few days.
The odd thing is that the T-Storms are moving East to West across Arkansas.
