The next Democratic President must appoint partisans (with proper experience of course) too all positions.

and his purported justification for doing this was that if he didn't, such "concealment" would have hurt the FBI's reputation. This justification (even if totally sincere and not self-serving--a big if) is based on a very faulty perception that the public would feel the FBI had been derelict in its duties if such a re-opened investigation was not publicly announced. There is nothing to indicate that would be the case, so he shouldn't have brought it up at all. If he was concerned about the FBI's reputation, he could have at least announced both ongoing investigations into Hillary's e-mails as well as Trump's Russia's ties. He didn't do that either, so he chose deliberately to hurt Hillary's chances while increasing Trump's. He's to blame for why Trump is president.

That being said, it was still Trump's voters who ignored all the things he did (Trump University, sexual abuse/molestation of girls and women, disparaging Mexicans, mocking a disabled reporter, etc., etc., etc.,) while thinking (or acting as if they did) that Hillary's e-mails were somehow a greater scandal. They're the ones who ultimately bear a greater share of the blame than Comey does.

I do not think he tried to kill her campaign deliberately.

I think he was trying what he thought was right, though IMO, it was a huge mistake.

Now he has a chance to redeem himself. I'm willing to let him try.

and comey's concern was largely due to anticipating public pressure from republicans, which usually means outrage generated by the same few hundred assholes on the radio, scripted by GOP think tanks, reinforced by fox.

and how long have the russians been feeding limbaugh? he was the one who sold 'climategate' in 2009 that set back climate change action years. that was based on a russian hack, and made putin, and the kochs, billions more.

and then it was limbaugh leading the way pushing for the UJS to default on the debt in 2011!

so comey was anticipating republican blowback largely generated and enabled - like all the benghazi and email shit, by the talk radio psyops that dems are so fucking stupid about they can't even poll for it.

He doesn't seem to grasp the big picture as opposed to determination to absorb every new detail and potentially be swayed by it. It's a tragic flaw in an FBI director. It reminds me of bettors I know who watch every game so they can overreact to every outcome. They are a bookmaker's dream.

We had this discussion late during the campaign. I'm convinced Comey is more simple than sinister. Now he's looking back at where he zigged and zagged instead of doing nothing, as proper.

If he'd just done his hit jobs and kept his pie hole shut he'd still be sitting in the catbird seat but he had to brag about his fine conscience LOL. Maybe not as evil as the Houston crowd but still a willing tool of the right. At this point I'm more or less indifferent to the fate of Trump as Pence seems a more efficient and therefore more dangerous lunatic. As it happens Trump has gotten himself into a fight for survival against the VRWC and I have to confess to taking pleasure in seeing them panic.

I also suspect that he was given a six months expiry which is exactly how long McKinley lasted before he met with one of those lone nuts who pop up to remove inconvenient persons. I expect the mighty Wurlitzer to keep getting louder until he's gone and on that score too I can't deny taking pleasure in seeing the organists sweat.

That's it in a nutshell. He sees himself as perfect, even while doing the same or worse things as people he has criticized. Basically, he alone is the decider.

That being said, his ego is REALLY coming in handy right now. I'm sure he has something to do with all these leaks! As another DUer pointed out so perfectly, Comey basically rallied his troops to save America in his farewell letter:

It is very hard to leave a group of people who are committed only to doing the right thing.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I’VE DIRECTLY CHARGED YOU WITH BUCKING ALL CONVENTIONS AND AUTHORITY AND TAKING THESE BASTARDS THE HELL DOWN NEED I SPELL IT OUT AGAIN OK I WILL: “ONLY DOING THE RIGHT THING” AND I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS

My hope is that you will continue to live our values and the mission of protecting the American people and upholding the Constitution.

DONNIE TRUMPO HAS INVOKED A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS AND HE’S WIPING HIS ASS WITH OUR MOST SACRED DOCUMENT THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE EXPLICITLY TOLD YOU THAT YOU HAD BETTER STEP UP

If you do that, you too will be sad when you leave, and the American people will be safer.

SORRY YOU’RE GOING TO BE FIRED AS WELL BY THIS CANCER ON THE AMERICAN STATE IT’S GOING TO BE WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER BUT THE COUNTRY’S FREEDOM IS ACTUALLY AT STAKE HERE DESTROY HIM LIKE A GREAT AVENGING EAGLE

Working with you has been one of the great joys of my life. Thank you for that gift.

IF I EVER MEANT ANYTHING TO YOU MY G-MEN AND G-WOMEN YOU WILL BURN THIS MOTHER DOWN

I wonder how righteous and honorable Comey will be judged if Drumpy manages to let loose one of the nukes he thinks he should be able to use.
