I know the MSM is trying to talk her up; telling us what a great asset she is to Mittens, telling us how she's suffered so terribly and how hard working she is, but I think they're fighting an uphill battle trying to sell her. Maybe I'm being too optimistic about the voting public, but I think she has the charm and warmth of an ice cube.

(343 posts)to me, she comes across as kind of vacuous, a woman of little substance (other than a ton of money). I see Mitt as an "empty suit" as well. Both come across as "phony" and self absorbed. There are many ultra wealthy men and women who care about things other than their status and wealth. Unfortunately, Ann and Mitt are not in that category.

(22,896 posts)This was in an official Romney ad, and the person whose job it was to "proof" Nitt's televised ads sure missed the boat on this one. Frankly, it came off as sloppy. The pundits frequently point out misspellings--it's fair game, especially when Nitt's wife took on the responsibility of making the ad. If you're running for the highest office in the world, it's wise to hire someone with an eagle eye/ear to ensure misspelled/mispronounced words don't go out on the airwaves! It's
so...unprofessional when they do.

(47,419 posts)she didn't say "Seamus loved it", she called him "the dog". Romney did the same thing. Pet owners I know usually say "my dog", "our dog", or refer to them by name. To me, it infers a lack of sentiment or attachment. There is something very cold about these people.

(51,666 posts)"the cat" rather than by name are the same ones who display their "love" for it in other disturbing ways, too. Like completely ignoring medical advice and not giving medications and feeding things I specifically advise against. And they love to demand declawing, typically on all 4 paws.
So your inference is right on the money.

PatSeg
(47,419 posts)is they don't realize how cold and unfeeling they sound. They really are from another world. You'd think some of their political strategists would advise them how to talk to the "little people". And why did his staff let him SING over and over again on the campaign trail?

(32,701 posts)Asked about the concerns, Ann Romney argued that bringing Seamus along for the ride was far less cruel than keeping him home:
The dog loved it, Ann Romney said. He would see that crate and, you know, he would, like, go crazy because he was going with us on vacation. It was to me a kinder thing to bring him along than to leave him in the kennel for two weeks. [...]
Once, he we traveled all the time and he ate the turkey on the counter. I mean, he had the runs, Ann Romney said, laughing as she explained how the dog got diarrhea.

It was supposedly a humorous way to get the crowd to quiet down but I thought it showed how much disdain she has for people even those that are so delusional as to vote for her Mitt. I have searched all over for a clip but have not found it. Does anyone else remember seeing this?

A technically purer definition of Ann Romney [View all]
Macmillan English Dictionary
lady of leisure
a woman who does not have to work, especially because her husband earns a lot of money
...............................................................................................................................................................................
Ladies of leisure may or may not have children.....entirely their choice
The extreme wealth of the husband allows for all the help necessary ..again by choice
The word "leisure" does not mean that she reclines all day long , eating bon bons..it just means that she is AT leisure from the stresses of figuring out how long that package of bologna will last, or that the washer is broken AGAIN..or that they cannot afford to take a sick kid to the doctor.. or that the electric bill is $160, and the checkbook balance is $95 & payday's a week off... stuff like that.
Ladies of leisure have the opportunity to CHOOSE whether to be a hands-on Mom or one who supervises, but delegates care. Ann Romney won the husband lotto.
I'd be willing to bet money that most of the women pictured below would love to be able to CHOOSE to be a stay-ay-home Mom too..but they probably did not choose a rich man (or have a rich man choose them). I doubt that many (any?) of them chose to wake up a sleeping baby or a sick toddler so they could serve food to strangers or wait on cranky people, and then turn over a large portion of their paycheck to people who watch their kids. These women still have the stay-at-home-Mom chores to do when their paid-jobs are done for the day. They are NOT ladies of leisure.

(41,960 posts)I feel for anyone with MS, and would never go the Joe Walsh "It's all she talks about!" route. But I do think they're projecting a strange combo of "She rides horses because it helps her cope with her disability" and "She's a badass jetski driving buff 'Don't mess with my man!' MamaJamma".
