Behind every showman, actor etc, there are dozens, perhaps hundreds of support staff of all kinds. Many of them do hard, unpleasant work. Without them, the show can't go on. I guess I'm just not crazy about jokes made at their expense.

It doesn't work as an insult unless we're indeed saying being overweight is worthy of insult. It's unavoidable, no matter how many qualifiers we add: the person is an asshole; we hate their politics; they did it first, etc.

Similarly, this diss doesn't work unless we accept it as a given that the occupation is beneath us or not respectable.
