He's doing what he has to do in a backward red state (I live in one too). He's with us most of the time-better than never.

Smart energy is what has been saving our economy. I work for an electrician...office manager..and we have been very busy substituting out old lighting with LED.

Yes, new LED decreases electric usage...and many, many businesses are outfighting their business lights. Presently, there is a energy credit (done by Obama) that induces these changes.

Is Manchin saying that WV is not receiving these credits or is not utilizing new retrofits to decrease energy use? Maybe he would just like everyone going back to appliances, lighting that were not energy efficient.

I think he would have spent his time better trying to induce some new energy manufacturing companies to West Virginia for the lost jobs in coals. Really a no brainer.....

He can't even pretend that it's not 1955. Even lip service is beyond his feeble powers.

But hey, that's fine. Does he want to wallow in toxic nostalgia for back in the day, like most of the residents of the state he represents? Have at it.

Coal is going to go down regardless...why should he say things that will help elect a Republican? He votes with us most of the time and way more than any GOP type would...you want to help Trump get more bad policy through than attack Senators like Manchin...that will do it. As we rack up losses in a Senate year that is not that great for us no matter what.

she was honest that those jobs were going away and that people needed training for new jobs, which is what she supported.

Trump promised them they would get all their coal jobs back. Hillary wouldn't lie.

The guy's just trying to hang in in West Virginia. I only have a problem with Blue Dogs when they refuse to fall in line on important votes, like Lieberman and Ben Nelson used to do constantly with no penalty. Other than that, say whatever you want.

These major things are why I will not give excuses for him. Sanders showed you can talk to people in W Va. Sure, it is a different environment than in blue states, but some ideas should be universal.

i knew she was going down when she called out the racism against obama. but i think she knew also.

manchin supported the ACA .

the problem isn't the politicians as much as the people of the state. if you want more liberal officials from those states you have to convince the people of the state to change their views.
