Why is it so important to RWers to prove how much they care about victims?

It's not as if I care less than they do, but they have to make a huge public fuss about how angry they are, and how much they '"care".

Sick of the Facebook posts making a big production about it. I feel it is self-serving. Why do we let them get away with this posturing?

Do they make such a public fuss to compensate for the fact that their conscience bothers them?

know them by their actions, not their empty words. If they really "cared" they'd do something, but it's always "Oh, we can't do that. It would infringe on someone's freedom."

Lotsa hopes and prayers, no real action.

have to post this sort of 'this is not really a big deal' stuff?

Because this post is basically another variation on that theme and it happens 100% the time when there's a terrorist attack.

So, what's the deal? Why do you need to do that?

They're constantly referred to as evil, hideous, Nazi's, racists, bigots, and all this other stuff, both by us and the media. It's all a narrative (I do hope you're all aware that the 'other side' is NOT, in fact, all of those things, although you can certainly find individual members of each of those ideologies within it), and one that hurts them because ultimately, they are following what they have been told, by both their entire communities and history itself. They have different core values than we do, and VERY different methods of getting there.

So when they're upset about victims of muslim attacks, yah, most of them are REALLY upset and it's completely legit. In their view, if there were no muslims, there could be no muslim attacks (and realistically, this is true - from a certain point of view). Hence, 'the ban works' and the reason they always call for one. They don't generally plan ahead, though (colloquialism: Don't let the future be the thief of the present), and that can carry on to them not thinking about things from a world-spanning view. The world is frankly too big when your problems consist of how many more credithours you need to finish that degree in Metallurgy to secure the pay increase at one the very few remaining factories, but they aren't challenged to recognize that.

The problem with conservatives is not that they're evil or even that they're dumb, it's that no one challenges them to think. Our side has all but retreated to 'educate yourself' or 'oh just shut up' as a common response. Barring that, it's basic, boring mockery. But no one educates the other people, and the polarization increases. No one has any room to give, everyone is sure the other side is evil and stupid and relies on emotion, not facts (and by 'everyone', I mean on both sides the accusations are IDENTICAL).

Unfortunately, there are actual, real powers at work who want us destroyed and they will ensure polarization accomplishes that task so long as people allow it to happen. Those powers are currently dissecting our nation, but everyone is so busy screaming about The Orange Cheetoh or whatever the stupid name of the week is for Trump that no one has time to try to fix our communities. Putin this, Putin that, oh Pooty-poot did something else, and not one single person I've seen seems to recognize that all the infighting going on right now IS the chaos that they wanted. Talk about feeding the Beast...

But anywho, that's why. Source: Republican family, formerly politically active, still all Republican voters (at least that I know of), whole family went Trump but me (obviously), red county in a red state (Indiana). Hope that helps some.

AUTHOR'S EDIT: It should be noted that I'm referring to the rank and file, working class and lower-ranking white collar strata of the Party, as those are the ones I'm familiar with. Your basic Midwesterner. Republican officials are quite another thing entirely, as are the fantabulously wealthy and the other niche party groups.
