8. Rod J. Rosenstein is the Deputy AG, next in line after Sessions.

He is also who chose Mueller for the Special Counsel, and he cannot appear to be part of the investigation, cause he was involved with writing the Comey letter.
He knows that, and he was wise enough to pick Mueller, so I don't think firing him is in the cards.
