CNN host baffled when GOP lawmaker tries to make Comey testimony about Hillary’s emails



NN host Alisyn Camerota found herself utterly baffled on Wednesday when Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) told her that the real story about former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony involved former Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Despite the fact that Comey is widely expected to testify on Thursday about his interactions with President Donald Trump, Rooney insisted that the big news coming out of Comey’s big day on Capitol Hill will revolve around Lynch’s meeting with former President Bill Clinton last summer while his wife was still under investigation by the FBI for using a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

“I hope they get into Hillary Clinton and the whole thing about Loretta Lynch meeting on the airplane, and all that,” he said. “That’s the big story here.”

“It is?” a skeptical Camerota asked him with a bewildered look on her face.

“It is to me!” Rooney replied. “This guy’s been playing games ever since the campaign.”

The “Morning Joe” host called on Republicans to challenge the White House narrative on the Russia investigation during James Comey’s testimony Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Schmidt urged the party’s rising stars to escape Trump’s orbit or risk their careers.

“You have (Sen.) Tom Cotton (R-AR), combat veteran, Harvard educated lawyer, someone in his early 40s who could have a real national profile — is he going to get to the truth (Thursday) or is he going to be a shill for the administration?” Schmidt said. “(Sen.) Marco Rubio (R-FL), another person with a long career ahead of him — how is he going to handle this? I think we’re looking for a generation now of younger Republican leaders. Are they going to put the country first? Are we going to get to the bottom of what happened, or are we going to see nonsense?

Scarborough reminded Schmidt that both Cotton and Rubio had been invited, along with Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), to dine at the White House two days ahead of Comey’s highly anticipated testimony.

“Donald Trump, again, being a schmuck thinking he can buy people’s integrity by inviting them over to the White House and wowing them,” Scarborough said. “I’m sorry, that’s how he thinks — I know that firsthand. He thinks if he invites you to the White House and gives you food that you are going to cut him a break, cut him slack.”

20. Actually, that is not too far off from what their strategy is Demsrule. Bloomberg

reported this morning that republicans are planning a whole strategy against Comey, and arguing justification for Comey's firing, by saying "Comey dropped the ball on the email investigation, and framing it that he incorrectly let "Hillary off the hook, when she was actually "guilty" of serious crimes". They will also try to throw dispersions on President Obama to suggest wrong doing in his administration.

The republican party is a completely compromised party, and the Democrats better be prepared for it tomorrow, because it isn't going to be pretty. The republicans are going to lie and distort, and the Democrats had better be willing to call out on their lies, and what they are doing. Compromising the security of our country.

to focus the justification of Comey's firing, not on the potential obstruction of justice, or other possible crimes by this administration.

The strategy of course is to divert attention away from trump, and toward Comey. This is classic Rove. They are going to effectively put Comey on trial in their Kangaroo court, by introducing the emails, and saying "Comey not only botched that, but colluded with President Obama and the Clinton campaign to "cover it up"

We are dealing not only with a truly evil administration, but a republican party that has lost any moral authority.
