Question for DUers: re all this shit going on

Did it really just start since January 20th this year (or pre-election)? I'm talking about possible Russian ties with various GOOPers, how crooked everyone in DC appear to be (except for Dems), Sessions, Nunes, Burr, Cornyn, Ryan, McConnell - just to name a few - ALL of those fuckers. Was this going on behind the scenes while Obama was in office and they just hid it really well? Where was the WA Post, NY Times a year ago? I feel somewhat gobsmacked by it all. How did it go on for so long, it couldn't have been just an overnight occurrence.

Help me out here, it is just overwhelming me.

relating to international money-laundering schemes with Russian involvement. I don't think many US officials were involved in the schemes themselves, but since Trump was elected the GOPers have almost certainly been up to their eyeballs in a coverup.

3. What we are seeing now is the major leaks suddenly going on

by the supposed Trump people in Washington. That's why the Washington Post and NY Times are getting this information now.

The GOP have been corrupt for a very long time. Pretty openly since Clinton. You can set the reason at the feet of the Shock Jocks like Limbaugh and Sean Hannity of FOX News. They didn't just stir the shit, they used a veritable electric mixer on it.

Then Dubya was selected by the Supreme Court and Cheney became our President and proceeded to try to enact the PNAC pact ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century ) whose stated goal was to be the only Super power in the world made so through military action against anyone who objected.

Yes, the Republicans continued pursuing their goals of making the rich richer and the poor poorer and made sure to do their best to obstruct Obama at every turn.

Wonder why the Dems haven't seen the need to exploit average Americans for personal gain - I feel like we've been living in an Obama bubble and now all hell is breaking loose. I'm not blaming him, but think maybe we got complacent when he was in office.

There are comparisons to Watergate and Iran Contra, but I think it's gonna be more like the Nuremberg trials.

There are so many politicians guilty of something (including dems) that the first couple of people who get busted are gonna be in big trouble, and then we will find out just how deep this thing goes.

If a candidate took money from a foreign government, they won't admit to it and complain about how the money in the system is the problem, instead they slink around worrying about being blackmailed.

That's my tinfoil hat theory.

13. I guess my main question wasn't clear

Under Pres. Obama, things seemed relatively calm and in good order, with progress being made on many levels. Trump is elected 7 months ago, and all hell has broken loose. Things are falling apart. Is our democracy really that fragile or am I just overreacting? How can one not very intelligent man wreak such havoc upon us all?
