Watergate hearings in 73, Iran -Contra in 87

Those were from republicans behaving badly. Clintons impeachment hearings in 99 were because of republicans behaving very badly, as well as a man with an inability to control his smaller head.
9/11 Comission in 2003, because of republicans failing to do their f-ing jobs.
Seems like when there are major congressional hearings, republican malfeasance is the dominant cause. Did I miss listing any since 1973, limiting to contemporary history. I do recall watching the Watergate Hearings, babysitting that summer.

2. Sadly, Iran-Contra didn't have any consequences.

Ridiculous. People still think of Oliver North as a hero. I went down south for a wedding around that time, and actually saw an enormous billboard up thanking Oliver North for being a great American patriot (this was near Knoxville, TN).

He was a terrible person, a horrible president, an embarrassment to the country, and completely crooked to boot. Yet he persists as some kind of a mythic hero.

I couldn't stand looking or listening to him at the time, and have only come to despise him more with the passage of time. How he was elected is beyond me. He'd done so much damage in California by then it should have permanently disqualified him from ever holding office again. Everyone I know who lived in California when he was governor still speaks of him with rancor.

Benghazi, Fast & Furious, the email bullshit, now the nonsense with Susan Rice & 702. All of it a farcical distraction from actual policy, improving the country, and from the VERY REAL intrusion of a foreign power into our elections.
