Because he thought Trump would misrepresent (aka lie) about those Val's and meetings.

Directly said Trump lied about the reason Comey was fired.

I don't think it is conscious but it seems like some of our members are viewing this thru the lens of how Repubs will attempt to spin this.

Please understand I don't think they are aware of this. It is just that we have been beat down emotionally so much by the right wing propaganda machine that some folks may have unconsciously have enteralized that.

they are trusting that the knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing, sister-dating base will NOT be watching the hearing, or, if they are, will not understand it.
