is then DT would get to replace him. And that person wouldn't be recused from the Russia investigation, and would be able to fire Muller.
Right now, Rosenstein would have to do any firing, and he's less like to do so -- as the person who appointed Mueller -- than any new Attorney General who's willing to sign DT's loyalty oath.

(115,683 posts)and considering they are going to have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find someone willing to take the job, so that person is likely to have marginal qualifications (like Trump's personal attorney, Marc Kasowitz, who seems to be only a few rungs higher on the legal food chain than Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman), and that person isn't quite so likely to be rubber-stamped as some other appointments - GOP Senate or not.

CNN reported the Senators WILL be asking more than money questions.
And Kushner will be testifying next week or early the week after. Dunno which committee yet.
Even Trump knows that firing Justice Dept. people has bad results, that may hopefully slow his urge to play The Apprentice script.

or the Justice Dept.

(73,537 posts)be unlikely to do that for several reasons. First, they would have to take authority from Rosenstein, which would be difficult. Second, there would have to be cause, and Mueller is extremely unlikely to do anything that would justify that.
