(10,437 posts)the accusations by the conservatives he doesn't have the "metal" to serve...Sitting above 50% at this point is a really good sign and as long as all the democrats get off their asses and vote, he is going to win this election as Independent and moderate republicans are turning their backs on the trump policies, actions and politicians

(1,786 posts)and just like they said, Hillary won by almost 3 million votes.
Polls are done nationally and will tell a general winner, not an electoral winner.

(5,321 posts)Let's face it... Republicans are more prone to actually get out to vote than are Democrats, and there's an easy psychological reason: when you're hateful and intolerant you're more apt to want to impose your will upon others. That's what happened in the presidential election, too.

(23,097 posts)I've been contributing to his campaign, which I don't normally do for congressional runs in other states, but I really like this young man and am doing all I can to help this happen.

(12,165 posts)here in the 6th. It's inspirational. There are signs everywhere in my neighborhood. I'm in a blue area of the 6th, but work in a redder area. In office conversations there, people just aren't impressed with Handel.
I'm sure she'll get a lot of republican votes (the GOP bloc in the 6th is really reliable), but Ossoff and an army of volunteers have tirelessly been working to GOTV. We have been canvassed at least six times to make sure we voted.
What a lot of people don't realize about the 6th is how it was gerrymandered in 2011. This is important because a move designed to weaken democratic clout in the metro area may have given the 6th just enough blue voters to flip the district. Before the gerrymander, I was in Hank Johnson's district. If you know anything about Johnson, he's a non-nonsense liberal beloved by his district. We liked him because he did a lot to bring federal money into the district.
And now there are a lot of us who used to be in Johnson's district who are now in the 6th. Besides that, women in the redder parts of the 6th have found their political voice and using it to shout down Trump.
Thank you to all of you who have sent money and positive thoughts in our direction!! It's working!

(5,586 posts)I see a shitload of Karen Handel signs every day though.
Before the initial election, there seemed to be way more Ossoff signs. Early voting is open and I'm going on Monday.

(84 posts)I hope like hell they can pull it off. I know all the obstacles including possible voter fraud but at some point we have to start winning races, even in usually red places to turn this around.

(68,556 posts)when we took the House and the Senate? None. Keep in mind these folks are chosen partly because they are in safe seats.

(6,286 posts)I didn't know the exact date of the runoff election so I went to Wikipedia to find out when it was, was hoping it was very close in the future. You know, strike while the iron is hot and all that.

There's a blank square where Ossoff's picture should be, next to Handel's picture. I suppose it could be my computer, but who knows. Doesn't really matter in the scheme of things, I guess. I wish I knew the process of editing a Wiki page so I could add his picture.
on edit: I don't think it's my computer. This is what I see when I view the source. Nothing after "image1" which is Ossoff.
