(25,704 posts)In our history, gifted with wide oceans, we have done a pretty good job of assimilating other cultures. But Islam is another civilization and it has it's pluses for those inside of it. We are fools to think Americans would be immune to that belief system.

(146,308 posts)and that's OK. Most of us are also not going to release classified information or doing anything else that might land us in jail. We can be naive and say pretty much whatever we want. Ms. Winner probably felt that way, too, when she wrote that stuff. But, then, she did release a classified document and got arrested for doing that.
Whether or not her release of that document was a good or bad thing, her past writings, etc., are going to result in her sitting in jail until her case actually comes to trial. That is unfortunate for her.
Moral: If you're planning to do something that might send you to jail, it's probably a good idea not to reveal too much about yourself in public. That might backfire on you.

(39,343 posts)Im not excusing her but pointing out that people post a lot online out of frustration. I know I've made comments about using an excrement catapult to launch pooh onto my enemies, but that doesn't mean that I have one built in the back yard.

(146,308 posts)for releasing classified documents or anything else like that. Everyone's free to speak their minds, but sometimes what you say comes back to bite you on the ass. Such is the case with Ms. Winner, unfortunately for her.
