Why did Comey have to tell Trump three times that he was not being investigated?

Shouldn't once have been enough?

Why did he keep asking if he was being investigated?

It seems unusual to keep asking the same question over and over. Did he suspect that someone was on to his treasonous behavior?

had to tell him that Trump can't negotiate a trade deal with just Germany 11 times before it sank in. Maybe things don't sink in very quickly with Trump?
