If one needs a reminder of how classy Hillary Clinton is.

DEER VALLEY, UTAH — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney revealed on Friday that Hillary Clinton encouraged him to consider serving as President Donald Trump’s secretary of state.

Romney, appearing before a group of major Republican Party donors here, said that he reached out to Clinton last year after getting a phone call from then-Vice President-elect Mike Pence informing him that he was on the shortlist for secretary of state.

The 2012 GOP nominee said he was “shocked” to receive the overture. Throughout the 2016 campaign, he had been one of Trump’s most strident critics.

Romney, who was golfing in Hawaii when he received the call, said he told Pence at first that he would have to think about it. He then turned to former secretaries of state, including the just-defeated Clinton, to ask whether he should consent to the offer.

“In each case, each of them said, ‘Please, please take that job if it’s offered to you. We’d very much like to see you serve in that capacity,’” Romney said.

Yes. I am cynical. More likely, she and others thought he was a bit of sanity in an otherwise gigantic pile of corruption and lunacy. Better him than Rexxon Tillerson.

One has to wonder why Mittens would have even entertained the thought for more than a few seconds. Anyone with half a brain and an ounce of integrity would have dropped the phone and ran in the opposite direction if Trump called.

Yep. This was just a reminder that Mitt lacks it, as well.

Romney looks completely sane and ethical compared to Trump and his band of Russians. Even DUers were hoping he'd get the job.

Trump makes the less-heinous republicans, like Romney, Haley, Hatch, etc. seem same and decent, when they are almost as awful. Some are falling for it. I want Trump smeared all over the whole lot of them.

She knew Tillerson would tear apart the State Dept in favor of making deals for trump, himself, rosneft, exxon, etc., and that rmoney would know more about running the dept to keep the US from developing an isolationist policy. Yes, sanity. A grown-up.

Considering the possibility of his service was an act of patriotism by both HRC and Mitt Romney.

Just because HRC is an older woman and Abedin is a younger woman who works for HRC, and Abedin married a politician does not mean HRC had anything to do with it.

We have a great stateswoman with a long history of serving her government, and she gets reduced to a "political matchmaker". No wonder the people of this country couldn't elect her in a landslide to lead them. Too many people are still too caught up in sexist ways of thinking to deserve such an honest and hard-working public servant.

that Hillary wanted the two of them together, even though they didn't hit it off at first. I know I've read that, but trying to Google search a source is completely obscured by more recent developments between the couple.

And is it sexist just because I said that Hillary was the one who thought it was a good idea?
