if Steve Scalise had not been there because his presence as someone in leadership required the presence of Capital police.
Members of Congress don't have any security detail.
I wonder if that is going to now change.
Also, only republicans present because republicans and democrats practice separately.

Rand said total number of shots from AR15 about 15 initially, then another 50 or 60 but only Scalise, a couple of his aides and the cops were out on field, rest were in dugouts

(61,698 posts)about guns after this? No one would have had a gun on them during practice.
On edit: I sincerely hope and pray that those that were shot recover quickly with no long term effects. And my apologies, I tend to think of several things at once, not just the shooting.

(61,698 posts)It's not that you wish ill upon them, but you'd like for them to walk in someone else's shoes for a change instead of making excuses about it being solely the fault of the gunman. Other nations don't have this problem. We do because the nra wanted to help gun sales.

Republicans and the NRA bear much of the responsibility the level of gun violence in this country.

What about the "good guy" with a gun?
Police and security are the proper responses to violence, but we should work on preventing gun nuts taking rifles to city parks.
