I'm not sure things have ever been really different re liberal vs conservative ideology

All throughout history, societies have been moved forward by those who are enlightened, creative, "progressive" - the inventors, the big thinkers. All throughout history, this sort of thing creates fear in the masses - and then there are the bodies that use that fear to control the masses.

So one thing about being a liberal that is important is to NOT expect many others to see things our way. We are fortunate - we are not governed by fear - we love ideas, we love progress, inclusiveness.

What we cannot lose sight of is that this will never represent a majority of people. We and those who follow, those who are like this, will always have to fight and push for our ideas. We will always be in the minority. But...we will also be on the "correct" side of the vast majority of issues.

Just remember that when it seems that we keep getting dragged backward....because we are. And the whole super wealth, fear of loss, hubris of wealth, love of power thing is only making things worse.

Don't ever lose sight of how fearful most people are of things that they don't understand, can't see, are intimidated by. And what that fear does to their behavior.

I keep thinking about toffler's "future shock" and "third wave", and how people like us, not afraid of the new or different, or just change in general. are the ones to survive and, eventually, thrive.

"we are better than they are" sort of thing....it is just a very different way. And as some posts here over the years have shown, it probably has a basis in actual brain structure or some other fundamental biological basis. It is quite a balancing act we have to dance.

The propaganda is so pervasive and the message so constant. The only way we show them is to use it to our advantage. Maybe create truly progressive media with our own programming.
