His dad spoke this morning, and the hospital is giving details now

1. Has Otto consented to the release of his medical information?

Sounds kind of odd. Absent his consent, by what authority is the hospital disclosing his condition?

He is in no position to consent. I am sure his parents have his medical POA, and all info released is with their consent. The docs are declining to answer questions regarding his prognosis, at the request of his family.

I wonder if there is any possibility if this was self-inflicted?

But an intentional dosing of meds that went wrong could explain the mystery, I guess.

I didn't remember the person's first name, so I had to go search for it in Google News.

Not everyone is following that story closely, so just a first name isn't really enough.

9. I think this is what they said.....

He's been in a coma for over a year and remains in one, the x-rays don't show any old fractures of his body or skull that would suggest a beating, there is no evidence of botchulism, the MRI shows extensive loss of brain tissue in ALL areas of the brain - they think it was a result of respiratory failure but don't know exactly how that happened. They won't discuss his future prognosis, but it's not looking so good. I am so sad for this kid. Why oh why did he have to go into that horrible evil country?!?

Kids do stupid things. He obviously had no idea that his little petty theft would be taken a lot more seriously there than it would be here.

If he wanted a souvenir, he should have bought a t-shirt.
