I don't know about you guys, but....

I still wake up every morning and it seems like a dream to me: he's not really the President, is he? Does anyone else suffer from this besides me?? I just can't believe that this country elected that idiot.

The other thing that is so surreal to me is to see the DC pundits and Very Important People treating him as if he's normal. Everything that he does seems so off kilter - like the proverbial horse in the hospital! And people that I have known for a long time are trying to normalize him, and I just don't get it. I like to think that deep down, they realize that he's a stupid buffoon, a con man who doesn't know how to compose a coherent sentence.

There is NOTHING NORMAL about any of this. NOTHING. His* candidacy was an aberration, his inauguration was a disgrace and his pResidency is a mockery of the American political system.

I guess most of us, over the last ten years or so, only knew Trump from The Apprentice, although he's always been something of a joke. To see him in these serious situations, like meeting with foreign leaders, is so strange. It's like watching Leslie Nielson in The Poseidon Adventure, but thinking of him in the Naked Gun! Trump is so out of place and out of his element that it shocks me every time I see him.

...and IT SHOULD SHOCK EVERYONE to see him "playing at President" in the Oval Office. Yes, surreal is a very good way to describe the tRump* pResidency. Surreal, indeed.

The conservanazis since ronnie raygun have gone out of their way to make our government NOT WORK. The conservanazis on Fox not-the-News spew lies 24/7/365. They continue day tp s[read the myth that the Dems are responsible for al this. Now, they have excited the "alt.right" . They are basically fascists and KKKluckers. They would love to have a Hitler-like leader. Like tRump.
The true believers who suck up the Fox line of bu$hit do not believe the truth if it does not come from Fox.
Facts and the truth don't enter into a conservanazi's argument.
The conservanazis will not believe the truth.
They are willing to accept tRump's treasonous activities just to keep power over the rest of us.

Something has to give.

And resistance is futile. I was a kid when Nixon resigned, but now as an adult looking back, it seems that America has been intent on fucking itself for years. After Nixon, a bunch of Democrats were swept into office in '74 and '76, and of course Carter won, but a mere 4 years later here comes Reagan, and then we endured 12 years of Reagan/Bush. Clinton only partly reversed the trend, then I thought we had hit bottom with Bush Jr. We finally kicked them out of office in 2006 and 2008, after the worst economic recession since the last time the Republicans controlled all three branches of government, and I was so optimistic! And then what happened? A mere two fucking years later, we give them back control of the House. I just do not get it. I want to scream at people "Are you out of your minds?? How can we ever trust them with anything ever again??" Sheesh. I just don't understand people.

I've gotten used to it, but it still sucks. I just cling to the people I know that aren't that way. That's what gets me by.

I grew up in W PA coal country but spent 74-75 and 85-02 in NJ. Exposure to tRump in those periods made it seem like a joke that this tool could even be considered a candidate. Besides the local media coverage I worked along side other contractors that all had their horror stories about working tRump projects. You couldn't miss the fact that he was mobbed up.

When I moved back home in '02 I saw how much a solidly blue area had bought into the media propaganda and spouted Faux Snooze talking points like they were absolute truth.
I pretty much knew then we were fucked. 2004 through 2012 my county voted marginally Democratic but the party was pretty much a ghost. No party presence, contact info, or outreach. Even coming into an election there was no serious activity and anyone coming in and trying to stir things up was pushed to the side.

2016 pretty much anywhere you went in the county there were tRump signs everywhere but you'd have to look long and hard to see a Bernie or Hillary sign. We aren't some broke ass backwater. We're major city exurb, median income $10-$15K above the national median. 2016 the vote was 2-1 tRump to Hillary with barely 1% for third party or write-in.

Mabey the party should dump those expensive professional political consultants that suck up millions and lose with regularity and start pumping up the party from the bottom up. If you aren't fighting the local elections and raising up a farm team, you'll never do anything statewide or nationally.

During the primary I was shocked that NOT ONE OPPONENT brought up anything from the shady background of tRump. During the General, the same thing for Clinton and the dominant media. It was the sweetest low hanging fruit!

My advice for anyone who really can't figure this shit out read or listen to Thomas Franks latest book. From someone who came up in the 60's, I think he nails the reason Democrats are on the decline.

Hey, just remember, as a party, we allowed this to happen.

Donald is a character; excellently demonstrated in The Apprentice. His voters are "fans". Fans aspire to be his apprentices, and behave accordingly with slavish adoration. The fans are constituents of career Republicans--who maintain that career by lowering their standards of decency whenever the next guy does. The Monkeys see, the Monkeys do.

But back to life imitating art... when you consider the art out there, it's going to get so.much.weirder.

I imagine that the USA of the Berlin Airlift, the polio vaccine, and the Apollo Program is gone forever.

To be replaced by an ugly reality-TV show called Survivor; Washington D.C., America Has No Talent, The Real Housewives Of Who The Fuck Cares?, or Who Wants Our President To Be A Skeevy, Fuck-Brained Billionaire?
