You have to wonder how we ended up with so much pubic (public) garbage. A very large part of it is Republican or conservative. We have so much despicable filth about us you wonder how the country will survive or go forward So many completely outrageous hateful statement come out each day it makes your head spin.
Sorry for the typing slip. On second thought "pubic" seems appropriate".

(130,895 posts)We sent our daughters to 'private' schools, one daughter studied 'education' in college and decided she didn't want to teach in public schools due to way teachers and education are treated; she's now teaching her 3 year old at home; we'll see what happens. My older daughter's 1 & 3 year olds attend a good, private pre-k school.
Watching carefully.

(613 posts)They then built up lying conservative media
Built think tanks to echo their lies
Founded ALEC and the State Policy Network
Spent billions on politics to destroy the government to cut their own taxes
Primaried any honest GOP politicians
Used the Federalist society to take over judiciary
Got Citizens United decided
It all comes down to $$ in politics and about 10 billionaire GOP donors: Koch, Koch, Adelson, Walton, Scaife, Olin, Bradley, DeVos, etc.
We need to get money out of American politics.

(5,914 posts)That's all there is to it. We didn't appreciate what we had, what the people who came before us worked so hard for, and we didn't do all the hard work necessary to keep it.
Here's a song for you. Make this your personal anthem in all you do and never forget it.

(1,109 posts)They pose as moral authority figures, denouncing abortion, gays, the general falling away from American values.
Then they get elected by folks who dont realize that integrity is intrinsic to ones character.
These people are not themselves evil. But they are easily led astray by false prophets.
So you get piece of crap leaders with millions of supporters saying"b..b..but Jesuz"
Dont hate them. Educate them. You might not make them Democrats but you got at shot at making tthem stay home on election day.

(7,640 posts)snip...Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.
Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising controversial issues or alternative solutions, and there is loss of individual creativity, uniqueness and independent thinking. The dysfunctional group dynamics of the "ingroup" produces an "illusion of invulnerability" (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made). Thus the "ingroup" significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the "outgroup" . Furthermore, groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions against the "outgroup"....snip

(111,255 posts)We warned them as independent media were bought up in the 70s, 80s and 90s. We warned them over Reagan refusing to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine. We warned them about mob infiltration into the GOP. We warned them about 24/7/365 propaganda. We warned them about what the televangelists were really up to. We warned them over the almost billionaires gaming the system, from banking to stocks to voting to the quasi legal bribing of Congress. We warned them about how education was being dumbed down. We warned them about every stinking, rotten thing that has happened to this country and we warned them in time.
They snorted, called us pinkos and commies and patted themselves on the backs for being too damned smart to fall for it.
How's it all working for ya, moderates?

The MO is getting very apparent.. flood the airwaves with propaganda, manipulate the polls from a healthy Dem lead to a "to close to call" contest, then election fraud the heck out of the vote count... it's the only way they can win...
It baffles me why Truth in Advertising laws never apply to political ads...

(11,122 posts)And while we were doing that, the evil bastards like the kochs kept at it. They never rest. Grubbing for power and hurting people is all they live for. Like you want to camp with your grandkids or weave a rug or plant tomatoes, they want to control everything and hurt anyone they can. It's what they do. They never quit. We gear up and get involved and beat them (because they are so very wrong) and then go back to our real lives. They just do it again. Think of pink Orcs. They work for satan and never tire. We just want to put our feet up by the fire, eat a good meal, and admire the view. They want to step on you, take your food, and despoil the earth.
