Who do we know in high government obsessed with shooting down anonymous sources (unless they're the ones offering them)?

This sounds like it was dictated by Trump to Rosenstein and ordered to release to the public. He probably browbeat the acting AG over the WaPo story so hard Rosenstein gave in and issued this curious declaration.

It reads like a hostage signaling they're being forced to make a statement.

It does not say that Americans should NOT believe future leaks from various foreign intelligence reps...

It says simply to be cautious and use reasonable judgement (skepticism) before accepting/rejecting any info as factual.....

Because the DoJ will neither confirm nor deny any information which may be made public by alleged foreign intelligence reps.

1. Could be that a huge deluge of leaks are soon to be released....

2. Could be that *45 wants Rosenstein to ditch Mueller using the existence of "Leaks" as justification... so Rosenstein is sending a message to those leaking to stop for a while....
