I live in Arizona, and McCain is one of my Senators. It's been pointed out on Lawrence O. on MSNBC that just about every time Senator Harris tries to speak, some old white man tries to shut her down. What are they afraid of?

Mansplaining. I am glad we finally have a term for being interrupted and talked down to. Every woman has that happen to her at some point, many on a regular basis.

And I am so glad it's come into the common discussion. For years (back when I was younger and cared) I wondered what I was doing to make people think I was so dumb I needed everything explained to me! Now I find out it happens to all women, even those as accomplished as Sen. Harris.

And now days I interrupt right back! I've had conversations where we're talking over each other and it's fine by me. I don't want my time wasted listening to an "explination" of something I already understand.

It's a learning curve for both men and women. I do know some really nice men who have no idea what they're doing is annoying or wrong. They think they're being "helpful" and then of course there are the mcpain guys, who are just horrible and have no intention to change.
