Throwback: Donald Trumps chances of winning are approaching zero

By Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake October 24, 2016

The election is in 15 days. And the electoral map just keeps looking grimmer and grimmer for Donald Trump.

Excerpt:

Those changes tilt the electoral map — and math — even more heavily toward Clinton. Clinton now has 323 electoral votes either solidly for her or leaning her way. Trump has just 180. (Reminder: You need 270 to win.) And, virtually all of the vulnerability from here until Nov. 8 is on Trump’s side. Arizona and Utah, two states that haven’t voted for a Democratic presidential nominee since 1996 and 1964, respectively, are toss-ups! Texas, the one large-population state that has long been considered solidly Republican, is within mid-single digits! States like Colorado and Virginia — swing states in the past two elections — aren’t even real opportunities for Trump anymore!

This article had Ohio, Arizona, and Utah as "toss-ups" (All went to Trump, none were close).

Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina were are "lean Democratic" and they all went to Trump.

It still is amazing to reflect on it all.

... the pResidency of George W. Bush*. Obama was the political universe seeking balance.

But yes, I suppose in a lyrical sort of way Barrack Obama was a kind of miracle.

There was a seismic shift in polls and early voting already underway before Comey vindicated Hillary. The access Hollywood tape and groping revelations came out but were quickly eclipsed by Comey letter. Rumors of bombshell Trump surprise about to come out (the dossier) never materialized as all of media and journalists that had dossier held back for fear of being discredited the way Dan Rather had been (thinking Clinton would win anyway)

I have no doubt that Repub operatives coordinated with Repubs in FBI and Weiner NY investigation to insure optimal timing to damage Hillary by pressuring Comey to announce when he did, with so little time for her to be vindicated.

It was a combo of stealth Trump supporters, Hillary's e-mail thing, and most of all, Democratic voters not voting. I knew Hilary was done in Florida when the only areas she had left were areas where no one can be arsed to go out and vote.

As much as I think Trump is a terrible person and an even worse President, his victory was stunning and impressive. Nobody thought he was going to win (except for my mom, who absolutely called it. "That asshole is going to win" were the words ).

Nobody is going to trust the polls next election. They were wildly wrong. As much as it kills me, Trump pulled off an incredible victory in the face of arrogant Democrats who were already celebrating.
