The bottom line is impeachment is a political process. Presumably such a rash act would bring us closer to it, either by the GOP House doing it now or a Democratic House doing it in 2019.

Pence makes Ford look like Bernie Sanders.

Ford was smart enough to never vouch for Nixon's character.

People have a right to their political choices and can still be assumed to be unbiased professionals. Under that line of reasoning, only republicans who voted for Trump could qualify to investigate Trump. That is just plain silly. I know that's not your thinking, but you're just pointing out their argument, but on its face it is specious.
