Dallas County, TX..Russian hack attempts

https://www.google.com/amp/abcnews.go.com/amp/US/wireStory/official-russian-hackers-targeted-dallas-voter-registration-48055244

I'm traveling and am only using my phone so I can't paste paragraphs...apologies if it's not the best link. Saw this last night. At one point prior to election the polls were within margin of error...keep in mind there is always a double digit repub lead in TX, no matter how early the polls are done pre election.
I live in TX so I was following the TX polls and his comments. It was not until it got to a double digit (low double digits) difference in the polls that he mentioned and thanked Texans. Media never mentioned the MOE polls..they were all focused on the swing states. Not until the double digit difference did THEY even bring up Texas.

Why target a BLUE county in a red state? Was he worried about TX at some point?
I live in the county next door, bright red county, unfortunately.

But last month moved to Denton County.

I travel for work nonstop so I was not home to get the pre-election "feel" of the area...signs, etc. I looked Collin County results up post election and it stayed red, of course.

Of note, though, it is a much, much more diverse county population than when I moved there 25 yrs ago. So much so the local repukes put out a public plea in the media for **California** repukes to move to Collin County...calling the area a safe haven for them if they want to "escape" CA.
I have to wonder if that plea was made because even THEY see how much more diverse the area is and they are trying to bring in outsiders who may not realize the increasing diversity, if that makes sense.

But the TCDP are working hard to change it to blue.

My hubby worked early voting and he said there were a lot of trumpsters voting. They were extremely rude and arrogant. A lot of them had never voted before and therefore didn't know the first thing about voting procedures. He came home frustrated every day.

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/newsletters/2017/06/15/russian-hackers-fort-worth-murders-collin-county-tolls-thursday-morning-roundup

Russian hackers took aim at Dallas County's Web servers, possibly trying to access voter registration rolls, before the November presidential election, officials said Wednesday.

"They didn't infiltrate our system," said Toni Pippins-Poole, the county's elections administrator. "They couldn't get in."

If the hackers had been able to manipulate or delete the county's registered voter database -- which contains names, dates of birth and addresses for 1.3 million voters -- that could have caused chaos on Election Day, said Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price.

It's unclear whether Russians targeted other Texas counties. Collin and Tarrant county officials said they found no such attempts.

7. To cause chaos and cause people to lose confidence in the system

If you can make people lose confidence in the elections and the system as a whole you undermine the very core of our democracy.

Someone at work the other day was saying they could have been targeting the voter rolls as a way to undermine the legitimacy of a Hillary win and put her in a weaker position when she won. But then when they saw that their guy had a shot at winning they ahufted gears from hacking voter registrations to information operations and fake news to try and push his victory over the top instead.
