Trump is more paranoid than Nixon and more corrupt than Reagan, but does anyone here really believe that if Trump recorded Comey, which he probably did, he used tape? A man who lives on Twitter must surely be using digital audio recorders with memory card storage, and he would have used the Genuine NSA-Approved Data Destruction Method of beating the card to dust with a 16-pound sledgehammer to eliminate any record of his conversations with Comey.

(111,261 posts)He grew up with tape on the old Wollensack. He knows how to erase it with a big magnet so all you hear is an uneven hiss. Digital audio storage flummoxes him completely. He doesn't get it, he doesn't want to.
In fact, I imagine he still has an old Wollensack in a desk drawer.

(50,271 posts)His waffling to a yes or no question makes me assume he's trying to decide if he can get away with it since he said "tape" but it's really on a device. Mueller should subpoena "all recording devices including phones."

(82,849 posts)The question isn't who talked to whom about what on such-and-such a date, or anything about the substance of any conversations or discussions. No, the question being avoided by the White House is simply whether anything was recorded. That's it. That's all. It's a yes or no question: Yes, there are recordings or No, there are no recordings.
The American people are being treated worse than a reality show audience. At least with a reality show, no matter how lame the cliff-hanger, there's an air date for the Big Reveal episode on the schedule. Here, the White House is being too cute by half, hinting that maybe they'll tell us this week whether things were recorded. Or maybe within a couple of weeks. Or "later." Or "in due time."
