This year, Democrats lost all four congressional seats vacated by Trump's cabinet nominees. It's easy to feel despair at this moment, but there's still time to win two governor seats. The latest polls have Democrat Phil Murphy at 55% in New Jersey, and polls in Virginia are tied between Democrat Ralph Northam and Republican Ed Gillespie. Both those states went Republican in their 2009 elections, during Obama's first year.
Keep in mind how the Tea Party movement got the House back in Republican control in 2010 and both houses of Congress by 2014. The journey to taking back Congress started with Republican Scott Brown winning the late Ted Kennedy's vacated Senate seat.
In the long term - I hate to say it - but the Tea Party delivered practically every election cycle save for Obama's re-election. Getting Trump in office is a greater pinnacle than the 2010 or 2014 elections. Right now I don't see a moment when the anti-Trump Resistance movement can match up to the TP.

(100,068 posts)As well as 1600 radio stations across the US. If we were to attempt that, what do we have? Stephen Colbert? The Daily Show? Where's our Fox News? Where's our Infowars? Where's our Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity? The GOP has taken the media and everything else we hold dear. If we don't take back the media, we might as well skip 2018, 2020, and every future election.
