First of all, well, shit...
To be completely honest, it really wasn't unexpected...
Look guys, think back to 2006 when we had a clean sweep....
Things had to get seriously bad for people to wake up, financial, civil rights, you know people had to get shaken out of their comfort zone.
Unfortunately, that's where we are at I'm afraid: Things will have to get a lot worse before the nation wakes up.
Once things get painful enough for the common man to wake up, then we will see real change....
Until then, keep up the fight..
from the wise old sage, Red Green: Remember I'm pullin' for ya--we're all in this together.

(6,974 posts)But we're dealing with far more nefarious things than we were in 2006.
We have voter suppression off the chain now and I can only imagine how thuglicans will make it WORSE. We have GOP-led gerrymandering as well and in 2020 we'll be in a war we'll LOSE to thuglicans concerning redistricting, and Katy bar the door, if thuglcans EVER get enough State Houses (They're close to that NOW) to start meddling with our Constitution We have racism, sexism, homophobia getting worse. I mean there are people who'll keep voting in their own worse interests even if it means they will be under a bridge, losing health care, want to blow this country UP so to speak because they're that rotten, viscous, racist and evil. Plus if all those things weren't depressing enough, you have interference from a foreign government honing their interference into our election muscles right now, making sure that they can continue destroying what left of our democracy in this country.

(11,098 posts)Between now and November, 2018, the public will see what comes of Trumpcare, cuts to Medicare/Medicaid, cuts to Social Security and sixteen months of Trump.
The GOP had to fight like the devil to scape by in two elections they should have swamped. If you give up, you lose.
On to 2018!

Also Dems are +16 in these special elections where Republicans won these districts by +20 or more and this is excellent news.
