A lot of people are lamenting the loss last night by 9,702 votes. Let me put this in perspective. I live in GA 4. Hank Johnson is our Rep.
In 2016 this was the election result:
(D) H. Johnson
75.6%
214,278
(R) V. Armendariz
24.4%
69,075
If a special election was held in my district and the Dem candidate only won by 9,007 votes I be f*ckin freaking out!
So please put this in perspective. Ossoff did what many could not (turned a lot of votes) and I am sure republicans are freaking out even if they don't admit it.
PS Hillary got 80%

I was thinking a district with that many minority voters can't be that red ... it was ... it was super red ... one of the most red districts in the country

But the long time mostl white republicans are still a majority.

(10,533 posts)Specifically, "packing" of D voters into one district? We don't need a 50% margin to win one seat. I wish 25K of the Dem voters in GA 4 were in GA 6 - then we would have won yesterday!

(5,914 posts)The urban/suburban districts of Atlanta are the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, and 13th. All are heavily Democratic except the 6th, 7th, & 11th. All of which are in the northern suburbs.
