The ussr collapsed under its own weight, incapable of supporting an overly large military with an empire that simply wasn't sufficiently profitable.

America did have a large hand in that, but really that was 70 years of democrats and republicans alike sustaining an arms race and proxy wars that kept them spending themselves into oblivion. But they would have had to spend a lot on their military anyway just to keep their satellite states in line.

70 years of republicans and democrats saying we will defeat them because capitalism is better then communism. Then when it happens, suddenly it's not because capitalism is better, it's because Reagan made a speech. Oh, and Afghanistan. As if that wasn't just another part of that 70 year bipartisan strategy. Sheesh.

And yeah, we've obviously done worse meddling in other countries. Dunno about Russia, though. Certainly putin's not our guy....

Libertarianism and Communism are two faces of the same coin.

Neither are attainable for the same reasons....people will inevitably abuse them because people are always corruptible.

Modern Russia is just a rebranded totalitarian version of the Soviet Union without the trappings of the communist state to cover the corrupt leadership.

I suspect that the conservatives hatred of communism was not really about hatred but about jealousy.

American conservatism is really just about using and exploiting others, greed, and abject selfishness.

Just another version of the Putin's corrupt state. That is why fat fascist 45 like him so much, he wants to be just like him.
