1. I know this is not a popular opinion, but I believe that the AHCA is the rope

that we need to give them to hang themselves.

No matter what happens, the Republicans are going to kill people. The question now is how do we minimize the number of people they kill. In my opinion, we do that by letting them pass this bill.

Yes, I know it is going to be a bloodbath. I will suffer, but I know not nearly as much as so many here. But the only options left to us now are do we suffer for another year and a half, or do we suffer for another generation.

If AHCA passes, there will be a world of backlash to the Republicans. It will allow us to retake the house in 18 and begin to reverse what they are doing.

If AHCA doesn't pass, the Republicans will strangle what is left of Obamacare so that it dies completely, and then they will say, "See, we told you. It was never going to work!" And we have seen often enough that, unless there is a clear billboard pointing them to where the Republicans are fleecing them, many Americans will believe whatever lie Republicans throw at them. And when that happens, we will be without a healthcare plan for another generation, just like we were when they shot down Hillary's plan.

I am hoping this bill will pass.

The AHCA is 100 times worse than the Repug plan to strangle the ACA.

I cannot agree with supporting the deaths and bankruptcies that will occur in order to make political hay. It's not worth it.

3. But that plan to strangle the ACA soon leaves us with nothing at all.

I get it. I get your position, and I know the horror you feel as you see the AHCA coming. I share it. I just think it is the only path to our country getting serious about healthcare.

4. They cannot destroy the ACA entirely

And if they fail to pass a "solution" they will pay a big political price.

They won't be able to say, "Well...we tried" and get away with that.
I disagree with your scenario.

death and that they will pay a political price for trying. But I still believe my scenario is the more likely.

Whatever happens, may it be the one that brings the least suffering. We'll have to agree to disagree on which scenario that is, and see what time brings.

And may we all survive this cruel time in our history.

the CBO score was not good regarding the bill in the House. It just prompted House repubs to draft a bill with bigger tax cuts for the wealthy in order to get it to pass. Same thing may happen here.
