Prodded by GOP political activists, the Justice Department under Bush conducted an extensive, nationwide, five-year probe of voter fraud and ended up convicting a grand total of 86 individuals, according to a 2007 New York Times report. Most of the cases involved felons or immigrants who may not have known they were ineligible to vote.
Not one case involved the only kind of fraud that voter ID could theoretically prevent: impersonation of a registered voter by someone else. Pennsylvania and other voter ID states have, in essence, passed laws that will be highly effective in eradicating unicorns.

(93 posts)It's time. We have a dude on video stating clearly the reason voter id laws were put in place was to secure a Romney win in PA. if that doesn't warrant a hearing i don't know what does. Why suddenly only in republican controlled legislatures. And EVEN IF these laws stand people should be given at least 2 election cycles to get the proper documents. You can't do it right before an election man. Should we start bugging our Dem reps en masse for hearings? At least the dude in PA. this is a straight up coup attempt JUST like 2000. And it could turn very ugly very quickly if Mitt steals this election.
