"Pence pardons Trump..."
If, and only if it's politically expedient. If Trump doing time is what the feckless base of the GOP wants, that's what will happen. If Trump doing time assists the GOP in what will have to be a re-branding of their image, that is what will happen. Additionally, though Nixon commanded little loyalty, Trump commands none. |

46. Pence can't pardon Trump for a state crime.
At least that is my understanding.
The constitutional language governing pardons reads, “The President … shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.” Only a state governor could pardon trump for offenses against said state. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/05/24/could-trump-issue-himself-a-pardon/?utm_term=.4251aaede65f Hopefully he runs afoul of crimes against ny state and AG Schneiderman puts him behind bars. ![]() |

I have no idea who John Schindler is, other than a vague reference to a "netsec" writer, and this just screams "too good to be true."

Presumably that would be Jared, and IF AND ONLY IF this is true, Jared would be in the best position to know if DT were equally culpable.

He actually cannot shoot people in the street when he wants, or other delusions of grandeur he proclaims. And any constitutional pardon powers of the federal system do not apply to state crimes.

I trust those two more than some others I could mention, anyway.
That said... just based on the language of the tweets, this doesn't actually point to action. "I'm sure we're going to jail" can mean "I've done slimy things and I'm afraid I might get caught." Particularly if it's, say, Kushner -- who's not really known for his expertise about, well... anything. Just an idiot with a guilty conscience (guilty as in "I know I did it," not "I regret doing it." ![]() My feeling is that when they've decided he's an anchor on their reelection chances, they'll start turning more and more to a medical excuse.
