Report: Senate Republicans Fed Up With Trumps Impulsive Behavior

It took them long enough!

Report: Senate Republicans Fed Up With Trump’s Impulsive Behavior
Kevin Lamarque

Senior Republicans are increasingly fed up with White House moves they describe as impulsive and harmful to the party’s future, Politico reported Tuesday. Citing nearly two dozen top Republicans, the report said many say they believe President Trump’s administration is sabotaging GOP efforts to expand the Republican Senate majority in 2018, hindering lawmakers’ chances at re-election and jeopardizing the party’s plans. Several senators have reportedly complained to Trump over what they view as the latest miscalculation by his administration: attack ads launched by a pro-Trump group against a GOP lawmaker who opposed the Senate’s health-care bill. The campaign by America First Policies, a group staffed by several of Trump’s top campaign aides, was pulled amid a mounting backlash, and the health-care repeal vote was delayed. Some lawmakers are reportedly also growing frustrated with Trump’s personal vendettas against those who criticize him, a habit they say might cause disunity in next year’s Senate elections.

it will be almost impossible for Republicans not to pick up seats. If they fail to pick up at least 5 seats in the Senate, it should be viewed as an abysmal failure and a repudiation of Trump and Republican policies.

As long as we have low-information or Fox/hate radio faux information voters, we will have Republican majorities. Add voter suppression, election hacking, and low turnout, and prospects may not be that great for Democrats in 2018. We have not had fair elections in years. Why does anyone think 2018 will be different? It will not be unless we take steps to make it fair. We need a massive protest calling for paper ballots.

Remember this time last year when the party establishment was going to stand up to him at the convention?

Remember when Paul Ryan was so thoughtful and pensive about him?

Remember when he took shots at Ted Cruz's wife and father?

They have known all along he was a POS scumbag, but end of the day it is pretty simple decision when you literally could give a shit about the people of this country and your primary concern is your position and the party's power - their mindless dolts will go whatever direction they are led, and right now 45 leads them.

There is no "standing up" to him when their precious zombies might turn on them for doing so.

If left leaners aren't motivated to support Dem candidates, I seriously do not know what it would take. We have a two party system, no matter what folks think. We must work within the system. Don't like some of what the Dem Party does? Join at the local level and start to make the changes you want. That's how it works.

I do not see any bipartisan manner that you speak of. The hard right senators are against trumpcare because it doesn't go far enough and totally repeal ObamaCare. The moderate repubs are thinking of their states and their reelection chances. Sen. Collins wants to run for governor of Maine. She doesn't want to make Maine voters mad.

That's the attitude of "Staunch Republicans" and "Free Marketeers" (terms from the Trump voter study below), and there's little doubt that the attitude of "never compromise with Democrats" among that group of Trump voters is shared among those Republican Senators too.

Republicans don't worry about the US or it's people.
Russian attacks on our elections helped them so they attack President Obama for not doing enough, while they worked to prevent anything being done.
Twenty two million Americans left without healthcare is fine with them and they'll continue to work hard for it.
They are not fed up with his programs. They are not fed up with him for pulling away from NATO or our allies.
They support Trump because he is the Republican President they have worked so hard to get. If by some calamity, Trump doesn't leave office in disgrace, those "fed up" Republicans will be renaming all sorts of places after their hero.

I'll give them no kudos for that.

They are Republicans and they need to understand - he is a Republican President. Let the sins of the President fall on the heads of the Republicans in the Senate and the House.
